“Acoustically brooding one moment, explosive and epic the next”
— Ft Stockton Pioneer
“A little whimsical, clearly influenced by songwriting greats without losing her unique character, and offbeat enough to always have a bit of an edge.”
— Worcester Telegram
“Pure rock and roll screaming with childish joy”
— The Deli
“The sound she's able to create with this small footprint is expansive. With all the bells and whistles of the looping pedal, many musicians end up with lyrics as of secondary importance, almost a break between loops. Not the case with Kristen. Her lyrics are as catchy as her guitar licks and often have as much force as the kick drum.”
— Rutland Herald
“Love the track” - Casey Smith

Kristen Ford is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, third-generation trouble maker, and bridger of the gap between worlds. She was raised by a white mother, and a black father, a lifelong singer. At age 14 Ford picked up an acoustic guitar and started writing songs, followed by attending a rock n roll camp for girls, led by musical icon June Millington. Coming out at age 18, navigating life as a biracial, queer girl was made all the more interesting by yearly moves (not an army brat, but a higher education brat) where Ford had lived in 6 states by age 18. Following in her grandmother's lead, who played the organ professionally since the age of 13 (the one-man band of the 1940s), Ford uses her hands, feet, and mouth to layer vocals, affected guitar, and beatboxing into a lush and energetic live looping show. With 1500+ performances across 48 states and 8 countries at festivals, colleges, clubs, cafes, and dives, music is Ford's true love, with 5 full-length records to date, including her latest and first on vinyl, "War in the Living Room". Off the road, Ford has worked jobs diverse as vegan hot dog factory, wyoming wrangler, boston sound tech, TV show extra, mascot/clown assistant, plus every restaurant position imaginable. Ford's Every(wo)man aesthetic, combined with unflinching honesty, vocals growling like a V8 engine, and virtuosic guitar skills (endorsed by Gallagher Guitars, K&K pickups, G7th Capos) have placed Kristen Ford on the verge of greatness. “Amazing, she was great; Kristen Ford” -Ani DiFranco, Billboard podcast
The upcoming album "War in the Living Room" produced by June Millington (Fanny) and Brett Bullion (Now, now, Lizzo) will be supported with an international tour. Her acoustic one-woman looping band layers beatboxing, guitar, and harmonies for fans of Ed Sheeran or Brandi Carlie. Band shows with drums, bass, synth, and electric guitar are more in the vein of Modest Mouse or Courtney Barnett. 2020's "No Plans EP" was produced by Rachael Moore (Highwomen, Allison Kraus) and submitted for the Pop Grammy ballot. Ford has appeared at Pride Festivals with up to 100K attendees in DC, Phoenix, Indianapolis, Boston, and Brooklyn. Venue highlights include sold-out Marathon Music Works and Basement East (Nashville), Whelans (Dublin) Club Passim (Boston) Eddies Attic (Atlanta) Hotel Cafe (LA) Triple Door (Seattle) Empty Bottle (Chicago) Rockwood Music Hall (NYC) Mile of Music Fest, Folk Alliance International, SXSW, National Women's Music Festival and Songs and Whispers (Germany). She has shared the bill with such acts as Lake Street Dive (streaming), Betty Who, Chastity Brown, Troye Silvan, Melissa Ferrick, Ballroom Thieves, And the Kids.
Kristen Ford can perform with Kristen Ford & the Assembly (4 piece indie rock band) as a duo (Evrgrn- feat. Kels Cordare on Cello) and solo (One woman looping band)
